Mobile Phones and getting the best deal

There are a lot of things you should compare when looking to buy a new mobile phone handset.

  • Storage – how much does it have? The new model iPhones comes with 16g or 32gb as standard, but they cannot be upgraded so it is vital that you buy the correct one as changing later will be expensive.   If you are going to be carrying around a lot of music, videos and games then it would be worth checking if it is worth paying the extra for the 32gb model.  Most other phones come with memory card expansion slots – you should check what the maximum is and if this will be suitable for your needs.
  • Wireless internet – does it have this feature? These days, this is a deal breaker for many people. I would not consider buying a phone that didn’t allow me to quickly check my email for free on a wireless network when I am not at home or at the office.
  • Bluetooth – is it available?  With bluetooth you can quickly sync your phone with a laptop without the need of cables. If you use your phone as a pda or for emails this might be an important feature for you, to make sure all your data is backed up safely.
  • Camera quality – almost all new phones come with a camera, but the quality can vary drastically.  If you intend to make use of the camera, be sure to check if it is good enough for your purposes. The great thing here is that you can do it without leaving your desk – just search Google for “taken with my iphone”, or any other phone model you are interested in – example search here.

With so many new handsets available, and more coming out every single week, it is important to compare all the mobile phone deals before you make your purchase – it is unlikely you will be able to upgrade it until you get into the last 6 months of your contract.
