Secure Internet

Internet, Security

Although the worse times of internet viruses are probably behind us, that doesn’t mean you can go and throw away your anti virus. There’s actually a lot more threats to your computer than there used to be, because as the technology evolves, so do the malware manufacturers, unfortunately. The internet has brought the World together but, unfortunately, it has also brought an increase in the medium in which threats for your computer can spread.

Luckily, all antivirus programs and internet security companies have been keeping up with the ages and are offering comprehensive protection packages that allow you to take full control over your internet.

Long are the days where you would buy one program to do each task. I remember having one firewall, one anti-virus and one anti-spyware suite on my computer, all from different companies. Nowadays, you can simply get a package that does all of these three essential functions, and more. Content blocking, for example, is one of the most important features in any computer, especially if you have children using it. The internet is full of malicious or inappropriate content for children, and you can never be too careful when protecting the kids from the harms of the internet.

What are the differences between WiMAX and LTE?

Internet

Mobile broadband is currently developing at a very rapid rate. Only a few years ago 3G was being developed and now there is a large 3G network that covers most of the United States and other developed countries. Today, a format war is going on between the two contenders for the title of a standardized and improved 3G. This article outlines the positives and negatives of those two contenders: WiMAX and LTE.

WiMAX:

WiMAX is what is sounds like. Improved Wifi, maximized for distance. WiMAX is best known for being able to broadcast and receive at the same time (called MIMO, for multiple input/multiple output), which makes it perfect for large urban areas. It was originally developed as a way to create a huge wifi hotspot over entire cities that people would have to pay to use, but today, as smartphones get smarter and more people buy them, the MIMO capabilities are very important. Therefore, many companies, especially Sprint, are creating WiMAX networks. Some even call these networks 4g.

LTE:

LTE’s main benefit is that it is very easy to transition towards. This standard is being maintained by the 3GPP, a think tank that the industry uses to ensure interconnectivity, and therefore is similar to standard 3G. Unlike WiMAX, which would require a complete network revamp, many companies can implement LTE without changing their existing structure. However, it is slower and does not have MIMO capability.

Mobile broadband is very quickly evolving. Don’t be surprised if you see these technologies on the next phone that you buy.

Where Are Animated Emoticons Used

Internet

An emotion is defined as a textual expression representing the face of a writer’s disposition or facial expression. Animated emoticons are frequently used to alert a responder to the tone of a statement, and can transform and improve interpretation of plain text. They are short sequence of keyboard alphabets and symbols that indicates a facial expression or emotion. Emoticons are also oftenly called a “smiley. These emoticons are usually used to convey lightheartedness, happiness, facetiousness, joking, anger, frustration, and many more emotions.

Emoticons play a critical part in Internet communication because a massive majority of people communicating have never met and do not know each other well, if at all. Misinterpretation of intentions is all too easy, minus the facial expressions and verbal inflections that face-to-face communication affords. With the popularity of the smiley emoticon other emoticons quickly followed. Sometimes an emoticon will become popular in a particular newsgroup or Web group, but will not be known outside that group. Other emoticons have become part of the international language of the Internet. Research shows that the application of emoticons may have developed in the nineteenth century were they were commonly used in casual or comical writing. Digital forms of emoticons on the Internet were said to be conceived in September1982.

There are thousands of free animated emoticons available on the Internet. The word ‘emoticon’ is a combination of the words ‘emotion’ and ‘icon’ which is literally what it is, an icon used to articulate emotions. In web forums, instant messengers and online games, and to some degree Microsoft Word, text emoticons are usually automatically substituted with small related images, which came to be called “Emoticons” as well. initially, these image emoticons were fairly simple and replaced only the most basic and general character series, but over time they became so intricate that the more specialized emoticons are often input using a menu or popup windows, occasionally listing hundreds of items.

Emoticons have also developed beyond simple caricature facial expressions to an array of still or moving images. Were they were initially used as facial expressions; emoticons have now expanded to comprise other expressions such as an “emoticon” showing a guitar as an allusion to music.

Graphical emoticons were developed in 1996. There is extensive use of GIF or PNG graphic files, because of their simplicity and small file size capabilities. a lot of emoticon artists design their emoticons pixel by pixel; the custom msn emoticons feature permits the use of animated msn emoticons up to 50×50 pixels in size. several emoticons are made in vector format, such as SVG, and automatically processed using a graphics library. This allows SVG files to be automatically made as a GIF or PNG file, which is congruent with most browsers, which SVG is not.
